The Daniel R. Sayre Foundation
Providing Equipment, Training, and Support for the Hawai'i Fire Department
Helping those who help others.
The Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential equipment and training to the Hawai'i Island Fire Department who serves the Hawai'i community, and more than 1.5 million visitors per year from around the world.
Over 30 million dollars in donations and pledged equipment have been raised since its inception in 1997. 100% of our donations go to funding rescue equipment and training vital to saving lives.
Hawai'i Fire Department's Newest addition:
Named "Ka 'Io" after the Hawaiian hawk, this AirBus H125 is equipped to respond to EMS calls across the island, as well as perform firefighting and rescue operations. Through the generous donations from a group of amazing donors, we were able to procure this helicopter for the Hawai'i Fire Department to replace the faithful but aging Chopper 2. This is one of the many amazing donations that we were able to provide to the first responders on the island of Hawai'i.
AirBus H145 Project
The expansion of the HFD Aviation program is continuing with the additional vision of providing interisland transfer capabilities. The AirBus H145 would allow the Island of Hawai'i to have another option for transferring critical patients to larger hospitals off island.
Each year the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation honors members of the Hawai'i Fire Department who have displayed dedication to service above and beyond the call of duty.
